Comic strip.
So I got invited by a friend and it was for a fundraiser for a med class going over to Africa, India and some other places. Thinking that this might be a good chance to check out comic strip in West Edmonton Mall seeing how it has been there for a while and I never got a chance to watch a show there.

It proved to be funnier than I thought it would be. The emcee was quite good himself, cracking out a couple of jokes himself. He joked about how he's a crack addict and all, but the way his eyes were, i dont think it was too far from the truth, but overall funny guy.

First guy up, he looked kinda dork-ish, just kinda, cause really, who am i to talk. His jokes were kinda off, there were a few funny ones, but mainly, i dont think it appealed to the crowd as much and he was soon done. As the first guy up, he did pretty decent and it takes guts to stand up there and talk.

Second guy, he was a lot funnier than the first guy, kept the crowd going for a while, did a lot better. But then for these shows, I am guessing the jokes gets better eventually and the first 2 guys are the warm-up for the headliner.

The headliner was really good, kept the crowd going for an hour almost, that's a lot of jokes ok! His name is Bengt, with a silent g, which he claims is his street name. Not too sure if his name is actually Bengt, but he would be the first Bengt I've ever encountered.

Overall, very good show, I am glad I went. First experience is a very good one and there might be more to come. I sadly will most likely miss Russel Peters again. I should've went to the first one! This was something different from what I do most of the time, so that was really good. Wouldn't say eye-opening, but definitely neat!

The week ahead
April 2nd- Strategic Management Report due, Communications 121 Presentation #1
April 3rd- Entrepeuneurship Business Plan due
April 4th - Communications 121 Presentation #2, Finance 222 quiz #2
Sneak in Acct 107 case somewhere in between.
*edit* April 9th- Acct 107 case study due

Stress Level: ***

Fun week ahead of me. I guess this is what people would call crunch time. Although I should be somewhat stressed about it, I am actually quite calm and not as concerned as I thought I would be.

Fast forward a few weeks and it'll be my finals
April 23rd- Acct 107, FNCE 222
April 25th - MGMT 257
April 26th- Blaw 161

Looking at them, I can honestly say that I am not stressed at all. I have all the time in the world before finals to start studying because all my projects will be due way before that. A day break before writing my last two finals would help the cause a lot too.
Stress level: **

So today, I got to drive my uncle's Suburban, its a full size SUV. That monster is damn powerful, wish my car had such awesome power. Its not hard to drive, but shoulder checking is quite hard. Would be a nice truck to drive if that thing doesn't drink gas like water. Overall, good experience.

A reason to smile again....

THE WINLESS STREAK IS OVER! THE WINLESS STREAK IS OVER!! This might not mean anything for a lot of people, but for the fans! this is nothing short of jubilation! Sure, we won't make the playoffs, but heck! We snap that cursed winless streak of ours! It was a good game to watch! I am proud of my copper and blue!

On another note, saw Eragon on thursday with 2 friends. I would say that the story is really simple, yet interesting. Not to mention the baby blue dragon is so damn cute! *Note: I was going to insert a picture of it, but I couldn't find it, so you just have to believe me*. Overall, not a bad movie, simple, but not bad. Apparently this is a 3 part book series, so I think I might actually buy and read the books, not sure if they'll be making the other 2 movies, so I'll just have to read it.

Wow, the projects that we've been working on are going to be due in a little over a week! GASP! CRUNCH TIME! as much as I hate doing those projects, I still want a decent mark out of it and to do that, i guess its time to take it up a notch! Must work delligiently. *4 more weeks* Must live through it! BE PATIENT!

It seems like my beloved Edmonton Oilers will not be making the playoffs for sure. As much as I would like to see us win, I would feel good if the Avs win the next 2 games against us, just so that Calgary will not make the playoffs! I am sure all Oilers fan would like that! and all flames fan will flame us!

I blame roll up the rim to win for my recent addiction to the double double again. I thought I have finally stopped drinking double doubles couple months back when all I drank was mocha. But now, I crave a double double each day. Its not bad for you, just coffee. And winning something is a bonus too. Come on Camry!!

It was officially Spring yesterday, but with having said that, winter showed us at least one last wraith! Freaking snowed last night! and it wasn't just flurries, it was quite heavy snow for at least 30-45 mins, which spoiled my plans for going out for coffee. I almost wanted to brave the snow, but I thought better of it.

Update on Movies
Ghost Rider- done
300- done
Bridge to terabithia-done
Eragorn- pending time

Harry Potter 5 (wow, its the 5th movie already!)

7th book for Harry Potter comes out in July, can't wait for that, its been a while since I've read a novel, kinda miss the days where I just sit there and read. I think the next book I'll read when I am done with this thing called school is Bridge to Terabithia. Having watched the movie, I think it's time for me to read the book, there's always bound to be things that movies missed. Hint, Davinci Code, Hint.

So today, I got the whole house to myself because the family went to Red Deer to visit a relative. It has been a while since I've been able to do that, and honestly, it is a very good feeling. I like the peace and quiet of staying home alone, which in a way, gives me more motivation to eventually move out and live by myself. A sense of freedom and peace. So we shall see what happens when/if I find a full time job. It will be nice if I have the ability to move out right away, but that is all very tentative. But that is the ideal situation though. How I long for a place i can call my own.

Korean Village...all you can eat korean bbq, enough said.

Rocky Balboa, very nice movie, I think that's a great way to end the series. One last fight! If I ever get a chance to go to Philly, I am soooo running up those stairs and doing the punches! And I shall take a video of it of course!

But I am falling asleep as I am typing now, SO i shall continue with this tomorrow...i'll try and remember what i want to say =) g'nite

300

So the highly anticipated movie for the longest time, 300 has finally aired. I saw it over the weekend, i must say, it was certainly worth the wait. This movie was heavily hyped, but the hype didn't dissapoint. Most would argue that the movie is just all about fight scenes, but the notion of dignity, loyalty, fighting for your own county, the people whom you love, is enough to draw me in and keep me interested throughout the movie. 300 soldiers against an army of tens of thousands. Courage, despair, traitory(sp?), this movie has it all. Very good movie, highly recommended.

Another movie that I saw this weekend was Devil wears prada

Chick Flick/comedy, this movie was hilarious, people in the fashion industry can be mean, but its still damn funny! A good movie to watch if you want to laugh! If you ever are an assistant to a chief in editor, let me know how it feels, cause judging from that movie, it was pretty damn funny! And I don't know what else to write about this movie......=.=;;

Oilers....

Edmonton Oilers is all but eliminated from the playoff race. SO WHAT? yes, I am sad that we are not making the playoffs this year, and I was really hoping for a repeat of what happened last summer, which was arguably(sp?) one of the best summers I've spent in Edmonton. Woke up this morning, and was bored, so I was on youtube the whole morning just surfing for videos to watch. Then I decided to watch the Oilers Playoff run from last year. It almost brought tears to my eyes, not because I was sad. It was because I remembered the high from watching all those live games last year, the moment when we won against Detroit, that was one of the best moments last year.

Boston Pizza riverbend was where we were watching it. Down 2-0 with only 20 minutes remaining to play. It was Game 6 and we are playing at home. I remembered Boston Pizza got really packed and more and more friends were sitting on our table. I ended up standing behind kingsley. I pulled his hoodie up telling him to keep it on for good luck, which he did. At some point in the 3rd period, Pisani scored one goal to make it 2-1, the whole boston pizza erupted! There was a chance for a comeback! Not too long after that, pisani scored again to tie the game! At this point, everyone at Boston Pizza was cheering so loud the waitresses just stopped moving and was staring in awe. Ok, so the wings scored again to make it 3-2, minor setback, cause you know who we have? Ales Hemsky! Mr. Clutch. He scored on a powerplay to tie it! Boston Pizza again erupted! Man I think i lost my voice at this point, if i hadn't already. And the best part of the game follows. 1:01 remaining. Ales Hemsky and Sergei Samsonov speeding up the ice, work some magic and Hemsky SCORES!! Thomas was cheering even before the goal went in! The biggest cheer of the night from Boston Pizza came at this point, I swear half of riverbend must've heard us all, it was pretty freaking loud. And what did we all get out of this? FREE CHAMPAGNE! they gave everyone watching the game a free glass of champagne!!

Ahhh..the good times. Alas, we might not have made the playoffs this year, but what happened last summer was real! and we will be back! COUNT ON IT!

Done Midterms!

What better way to celebrate it than a movie?

I never heard of this book until I saw the trailer for this movie, the movie itself was pretty good, I enjoyed it thouroughly, and from what I've been told, it follows the book quite well while dropping some parts of it. So I think I found my next book to read.

Now that the midterms are done and over with, it is time once again to focus on tasks at hand, namely projects and looking for a job. There is a business career fair on March 14th here at NAIT, so I am making a beeline towards the business tower. This is a career fair specifically for business students, I am SO there! Might even be justified to skip a class or two (perhaps) haha.

Where will I end up 5 months from now when my student visa expires? I really hope to stay here permanently, there is just no job, no nothing in brunei, except for family and friends. I've gotten used to life here, although the winter isn't as welcoming, but hey, it's fun here. So, either I search really hard for a job, or again, take more courses(which i really dont want to anymore). I guess the only option left for me is to get my butt moving to look for a job. I will start on that right away!

Monday, March 05, 2007

today was probably one of my longest days at NAIT. Got there at 745 or so, and left at around 4. Wow, it's been a while since I've woke up at 630...so not used to it. Not complainig or anything, i know alot of people out there wake up at that time everyday or even earlier, but when you are not used to it, it's hard. I won't be complaining if i were to wake up at that time everyday =).

Writing 3 exams in a day proved to be really tiring, by the end of the day, I was so drained out, and my last paper was probably the worst i've ever done at NAIT, but it shouldn't be too bad I hope.

Was at the motor show this past weekend, it was an opportunity to unwind a little, from all the studying. It was quite fun, got to see a lot of cars, exotic or just the normal ones. will upload some pics soon, didn't have time to do it the past few days. By the way, Mini Cooper S is my new dream car! One day, i will save up enough for it!

One more midterm to write tomorrow, hopefully it won't be hard. Communications, common sense, well, hopefully. While doing the practice questions, it really felt like common sense. We shall see tomorrow I guess.
